Day 1 : Best kiss. That kiss in 4x07 is the most beautiful for me because I see two lovers lost in each other. I see LOVE, it’s pure & simple and for a moment, the world outside disappears.

Damon/Elena Season 4 Appreciation Week

Day 1 - Best Kiss - Elena kisses Damon before the sire bond forces her to leave (4x09)

I love this kiss because there is just so much challenge and push and pull to it. It’s seemingly just this soft and gentle kiss, but there’s so much more brewing beneath the surface. Damon sends Elena home with the sire bond, thinking that she’ll leave immediately and they’ll deal with her later. But Elena doesn’t just listen, despite every part of her body telling her to get into the car, she does it on her own terms. She leans into him and kisses him, saying, “This is not over. You may be telling me to leave, but this kiss is my choice, I’m not letting you leave me that easily.”

Damon tells her “So do it”. And she does, but on her terms. Bastille’s “Oblivion” in the background plays “you always take it further than I ever can”. And here is Elena, taking it one step further and kissing him because she wants to and to tell him this is not over.
